Many people will end up missing an adult tooth at some point, even though permanent teeth are meant to last forever. If you have one or more missing teeth or wish to replace a failing or damaged tooth, contact us to learn more about dental implants in Dumas, Canyon, Amarillo, Farwell, and Dalhart, TX.

Types of Dental Implants

Full Smile Dental offers many types of dental implant treatment tailored to your exact needs. At the consultation appointment, your oral surgeon will go over these options with you and help determine the right restoration for your health, goals, and finances.

  • Single Tooth Replacement. One dental implant can replace one missing, damaged, or failing tooth. You can receive an implant anywhere in the dental arch, including molars, for healthy, long-term restoration.
  • Immediate Implants. If you need a tooth extracted and have enough jaw bone, we can insert a dental implant post at the same appointment as the extraction. This saves you time and money, and you do not have to go without a tooth.
  • Implant-Supported Bridges. Traditional bridges require teeth on either side of a gap to be filed down, whereas a dental implant can support a bridge. This protects the health of your existing teeth and provides more stability and health benefits.
  • 4-Hour Smile. This life-changing procedure uses dental implants to support a fixed denture. It takes only one surgical appointment and is ideal for patients with many missing or damaged teeth.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Prior to receiving a dental implant, we will take 3D scans of your mouth and teeth and discuss your options for anesthesia. Most patients undergo IV sedation for this surgery, which will render you into a sleep-like state and unable to feel pain.

You must have adequate jaw bone to support the implant. If your jaw bone has weakened, we can place a bone graft to stimulate new bone to grow. Once the graft has healed and there is enough to serve as a solid foundation for your implant, you are ready for your dental implant surgery.

On the day of your surgery, your oral surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue and insert the implant post. If you are receiving immediate implants, we will extract the tooth and insert the post into the empty tooth socket. Sutures will be placed as necessary and you will rest in our office until the anesthesia wears off.

In most cases, we will place a temporary crown to wear while the implant post heals. Once it has fused to the jaw, you will return to your dentist who will place your final, custom crown.

Dental Implant Cost and Value

The cost of your dental implant treatment depends on several factors: how many implants you need, anesthesia, if you require bone grafts or extractions, and your insurance. During the consultation, we will discuss each of these factors with you and provide you with a cost estimate.

Because they are a long-term tooth replacement, dental implants provide you with an incredible value. They are easy to clean and require no special care—simply brush and floss like a natural tooth. Other restorative options like dentures, partials, or bridges only sit on top of the ridge in your mouth. They do not fuse to the jaw bone, increasing the risk of jaw bone atrophy. With dental implants, you can feel confident in your natural-looking and secure solution while knowing that your oral health is protected.

Frequently Asked Questions: Dental Implants

How Long Does a Dental Implant Last?

A dental implant can last a lifetime with proper care. Keep it clean and attend regular dental checkups to ensure it remains healthy.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Surgery typically takes about an hour per implant. It is an outpatient procedure that will be completed in one surgical visit.

Will It Stand Out From Other Teeth?

The crown of your implant is designed to blend in with your other teeth. It will match the size, shape, and color of your existing teeth for natural-looking results.

What if I’ve Been Missing a Tooth for Years?

If you’ve been missing a tooth for some time, the jaw bone has likely weakened in that area. We can insert a bone graft, which stimulates the bone to heal around it, forming new bone. Once healed, you can receive a dental implant.
